MANILA, 14 May 2018 This year, Twitter and MYX Music Channel (@MYXphilippines) has partnered to bring one of the biggest shows in the local music industry, the #MYXMusicAwards2018, to live-stream the red carpet event on May 15 at Araneta Coliseum. This is MYX’s first live stream event on Twitter.

To commemorate the historic event, Twitter also created a custom emoji. Only by using the #MYXMusicAwards2018 or #MMAs2018 hashtags in Tweet, you can see the unique emoji. This emoji will last through August 1st. The Twitterverse already started a pre-party on the platform, sharing their excitement and wishing luck on their idols.

MYX saw the opportunity to engage the Twitter community on the upcoming #MYXMusicAwards2018 to connect the music-loving Filipino audience. Most of these audiences value Twitter as their source of information to discover new releases of music, videos, music events and connecting with their idols and fellow fans around the world to know #WhatsHappening on their favorite local artists and the local music industry. With its live and public nature, Twitter also plays a key role in helping artists and fans to capture the excitement of a music event to fans and audiences across the platform, far beyond their existing followers.

“Twitter has always been the destination for music conversation in Philippines. The platform provides easy access for Pinoy artists and personalities to connect with their fans from all parts of the nation, even those living outside the country. We’re excited to partner with Twitter to live stream the red carpet event tomorrow to help everyone be part of this music history, whether you’re #TeamBahay or #TeamAraneta,” said Andre Allan Alvarez, MYX Channel Head.

MYX Philippines (@MYXphilippines), the number one music channel in the country and one of the most followed accounts on Twitter in the Philippines, holds the annual MYX Music Awards to recognize local artists and award outstanding achievements in the music and entertainment industry in 17 different categories.

Fans went all out to support their favorite artists by casting their votes for their choice of acts throughout the voting period from February 28 to May 8, as the winners are determined by fan votes (60%) and artist votes (40%).

The artists themselves joined in the conversation and support from their fans, as seen in Iñigo Pascual (@ImPascualInigo) and Moira Dela Torre (@moirarachelle4)’s Tweets:

“Our partnership with ABS-CBN and MYX is an important step for us at Twitter. As the first live stream red carpet music event in Southeast Asia, we feel that bringing the MYX Music Awards 2018 live on Twitter will provide ABS-CBN the right kind and amount of audience to this spectacular show, as well as supporting the local music and entertainment industry. We believe that we are pursuing a similar path and we can only get stronger together, as ABS-CBN is relentless in exploring new ways to bring the live experience to more Filipino music fans in many parts of the world,” said Carl Cheng, Head of Entertainment Partnerships, South-East Asia & Greater China, Twitter

MYX Philippines promises a night of the best talents in the country – from talked-about presenters, to the most popular celebrities, to your favorite previous and current MYX VJs, to surprise appearances, and special performances, it is surely a celebration you can’t miss.

The conversation does not stop there! Live Tweet with us using #MYXMusicAwards2018 or #MMAs2018 and watch the red carpet live stream from @MYXphilippines on Tuesday, May 15 at 6pm.
