Ericsson’s internal donation drive to support the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan saw donations coming in from Ericsson employees from different locations around the world since the drive started immediately after Typhoon Haiyan left a wake of devastation in the Visayas.  The company has matched employee donations and has turned over PHP 1 million pesos to the Alagang Kapatid Foundation, headed by Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan.

“We commend the Alagang Kapatid Foundation as it continues to reach underserved communities in the Visayas, providing not just food and basic supplies to the people, but also a sense of hope,” Elie Hanna, Ericsson Philippines President and Country Head, explained.  “We hope that our contribution will help to bring aid to the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan, especially during this season.”

Other Ericsson initiatives to support Typhoon Haiyan survivors include the deployment of emergency telecommunications equipment as well as a monetary donation to the United Nations World Food Programme and the Emergency Communications Cluster  through its Ericsson Response program; a donation of mobile phone units to the United Nations team in Manila, and the deployment of mini GSM sites to support  Smart’s network in Samar and Leyte.
